A six-and-a-half-year-old boy from Delhi has earned the distinction of being the youngest recipient of an Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) certificate.
Divya Prakash Pandey, who has cleared an IGNOU exam for a Certificate in Craft and Design Programme (CCDP) in pottery, "is not only the youngest student of IGNOU but also the youngest student ever admitted in any university," an IGNOU statement said.
Pandey, a Class II student of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Vigyan Vihar in East Delhi, passed the exam held under the School of Engineering and Technology with 76% marks and was felicitated by the university, it said.
Pandey has designed different patterns and created innovative ideas in craft and design, it said.
The CCDP course is developed under the IGNOU-Khadi and Village Industries Commission project and aims at upgrading he knowledge and skills of artisans engaged or interested in pottery.
The programme envisages no prerequisite educational qualification for the target group of rural artisans and interested youth.
It introduces artisans to conceptual designing as well as cost analysis and marketing of products, the IGNOU statement said.
He has crafted wonderful creations with clay, besides designing different patterns and creating innovative ideas in craft and design, added the official. (IANS).
